In the story about the superhero comics, the hero often described having supernatural powers or extraordinary physical shape that allows them to win every battle. Here we will create a new superhero, A Fierce Stone Man.

Curious? Following steps!

Step #1

Prepare a photo with a plain background to facilitate the editing process. Open the image from the File menu, select Open. In general, JPEG files are opened in the application Photo Manager e.g. Adobe Photoshop – will turn into a locked Background layer. You can duplicate the layer by selecting Layer menu, select Duplicate Layer. In the dialog box, give the name of Layer 1. Override background layer with white using the Paint Bucket Tool. Then remove the white background in layer 1 by using the magic wand tool and press Delete on the keyboard.

Step #2

Press Ctrl + D to remove the remaining selection. Well, we’ll start from here, to create more realistic texture, duplicate Layer 1 by selecting the Layer menu, select Duplicate Layer and change the layer’s name becomes “Texture”. In this layer, select the Image menu, then select Adjustment > Desaturate to remove color existing and change to gray. Place these layer above Layer 1.

Step #3

Next, we will give texture to the layer and before that, make sure the layer is active. Choose the Filter menu, then select Texture > Craquelure. Enter the following parameters: Crack Spacing: 75; Crack Depth: 7; Crack Brightness: 6; and press the Enter key on the keyboard. Photos will be filled with cracks. Next use the Eraser tool to remove the motive tool cracks on clothing, hair and let the skin in the crack.

Step #4

Next, prepare a set of stone images. You can photograph the walls, highways, or you can find the reference image in google with keyword “Stone Pattern” or other keywords. Once you get it, open the image from the File menu, select Open. Then use the Move Tool to move into your working canvas. Try the entire area to be textured stone, covered with perfectly. Rename this new layer to Stone. Remember to put that layer, place on top of the layer panel.

Step #5

Then, change the layer Blending Mode of Layer Panel from Normal to Multiply and press keys Ctrl + left click on the texture layer to take a picture selection. Move the cursor to the layer Stone, from the Menu Select menu choose Select Inverse to reverse the selection area. Press the Delete key on the keyboard to remove the parts that are not needed. You can lower the Opacity level to 90% if the texture of the stone looks too dark.

Step #6

Next, prepare longer a photograph Pattern to improve the texture. This time we take photographs of marble floors. Open the photo from the File menu, select Open and use the tool Move tool to move the images to your canvas. Keep all parts of the body in the photo that will be done perfectly sealed. Click Ctrl key + left click on the texture layer to retrieve the selection, and from the Select menu, choose Select Inverse and press Delete on the keyboard. Select Multiply Mode on panel layer and lower its Opacity level to 15%.

And Last : See result!

The results of your work is finished and ready for display. You can experiment with different textures of stone, large and small to get the final result of different.

If you like the beauty of the painting sketch was made crayons or pencils, Now with Adobe Photoshop CS3 and CS4, you can practice these effects to your digital photos. Without drawing skills, you have been able to draw sketches. There are few tips from me, if you want a sketch painted more optimal, use the Graphic Tablet Mouse instead. Curious? Following Steps!

Step 1 :

Find a digital photo with high resolution both as a reference sketch, open the image in the File Menu > Open. Create a new layer just above it and name the layer is “Gray Layer”. Select the color light gray from the Color Picker as the Foreground Color, and then click OK. Fill the layer with the color of the foreground color by clicking on the Edit menu, then select Fill > Foreground Color and click OK.

Step 2 :

Next, switch to the layer palette, select Menu Layers > Create New Fill or Adjustment Layer, and then select Pattern. Select group ‘Pappers Grayscale‘ and select the fibers 1 type. And before pressing the OK button, larger-scale pattern in the texture of 300% in the Scale column then continue by clicking OK.

Step 3 :

Change the layer blending to Soft Light with the Opacity to 40%. Next duplicate the background layer / model and name it “glowing edges” on the duplicated layer. This is done to give effect to these layers.

Step 4 :

Now, go to Filter menu, choose Stylize > Glowing edges. Drag the slider ‘Edge Width’ to number 3, move the slider ‘Edge Brightness’ to number 12, Drag the slider ‘smoothness’ to the number 7 and click OK. Still on Layer ‘Glowing edges’, invert staining in this layer by selecting Image menu, select Adjustment > Invert (Ctrl + I). Because since we do not need color information at this layer, change the color to be black & white by selecting the Image menu, select Adjustment Desaturate or press a key combination (Ctrl + Shift + U) on the keyboard .

Step 5 :

Move the layer “Glowing edges” is to stack the top layer by dragging while holding the left mouse button. Change the Layer Blending into Multiply by setting the Opacity to 20%. Return to layer, duplicate the layer Background / model and name this new layer with the ‘Sketch’. On this layer, we will create a sketch effect. Discard color information at this layer by selecting Image menu, select Adjustment > Desaturate or press the key combination “Shift + Ctrl + U” on the keyboard.

Step 6 :

Next, move the sketch layer to the stack top layer by dragging while holding the left mouse button. Then, increase the contrast in this layer by selecting Image menu, and select Adjustment > Curves or press the key combination “Ctrl + F” on your keyboard and click OK. Give Grainy effect by selecting Filter menu, select Noise > Add Noise. Drag the slider ‘Amount’ to 14.21%, choose Gaussian in the Distribution column, and check Monochromatic field and click OK.

Step 7 :

Hide the first layer “Sketch” by choosing Layer menu, select Layer Mask > Hide All. You also can press the Add Layer Mask button at the bottom of the layer palette then click the Edit menu, select Fill > Black. This layer makes the layer remains visible on the mode, but for now, hidden under the mask.

Step 8 :

Now select the Brush Tool (B), then click on the Toolbar Brush to select the brush shape. Choose the Dry Media Brushes and then select the type of brush Pastel on Charcoal Paper. If you use the Graphic Tablet, open the Brush Editor by pressing the F5 key on your keyboard. Dynamic Shape Panel, change the Size Control Jitter from Off to Pen Pressure. Similarly, in the Other Dynamics Panel, change the Opacity Jitter becomes Pen Pressure Control. If you use the Mouse, you do not need to open the Brush Editor, simply change the quantity Opacity and Flow at the Option bar.

Step 9 :

Back to the Sketch Layer, click the thumbnail black mask to work on the Mask. Do not forget to use the Foreground Color to white. Set brush size 15 px, opacity to 55% and Flow to 75%, scratched Stylus / Mouse slowly. Apply On the first face of the character, such as eyes, eyebrows, nose and mouth. Do more scratches, especially on the part of the body contours.

And further, larger Opacity to 98% and use a small brush (10 px) to further reinforce the character’s eyes and mouth. And as a last resort, brush in shadow areas by using the Brush size 35 px or larger and Opacity to 81%.

In this trick, I will explain the change the color of your skin become white and slippery as a mannequin. By using smart filters feature in Photoshop CS3and CS4, we no longer need to use a lot of image layer to achieve this result.

Step #1

Find the picture of a Model that has a high resolution. Open the image in the File Menu> Open. Convert the layer to Smart Filters, by clicking on the menu Filter> Convert for Smart Filters.

Step #2

After changing into Layer 0, follow these steps to remove the skin texture by clicking on the menu Filter> Noise> Reduce Noise. Set the slider until it reaches the Strength to 10, the Preserve Details to 0%, Reduce Color Noise to 100%, and 0% Sharpen Details. Check the option Remove JPEG Artifacts and Click OK!. Repeat the same to click CTRL + F. to get the texture really slick and smooth, repeat this step two or three times by clicking Filter> Reduce Noise or Ctrl + F, especially in large resolution images.

Step #3

The next step, click the Filter Menu> Blur> Smart Blur and set the slider to get the scale Threshold Radius to 4.7 and 37.8 and click OK. Next, activate ‘Layer Smart Filters’ by clicking the left mouse to modify the mask.

Step #4

Now activate the tool ‘Brush Tool (B)’ and set the Opacity to 100%. click options Rounded Soft Brush with Foreground Color set to black color. Brush on all parts of the picture except the skin areas. This step aims to restore the original texture of hair, clothes, and background. Do it gradually with caution. Next, zoom out the size of brush, then brush on the brow, eyes, nose and lips part to restore the character’s face. If something goes wrong, you just fix it by using the Brush tool with the Foreground Color tool set to white color.

Step #5

Next, click on Layers> Create New Fill or Adjustment Layers and select Black & White. Drag the slider Reds and Yellow to the right so that a skin color is very bright and click OK. Next, change the Layer Blending to Screen and return the color information in the image other than the skin area by using the Brush Tool (B) and still set the Opacity to 100% and the Foreground Color to black color. After that, reduce the Opacity to 35% and brush on the eyebrows, eyes and lips. Do it slowly and repeatedly carefully to restore the color information in these parts.

Step #6

Now, Shading image using Burn Tool (O). Still working in Black & White Layer Mask, brush on areas darker. To make it easier, use the original image as a reference model. Return the Layers Menu > Create New Fill or Adjustment Layers> Hue / Saturation and Drag the slider to the numbers -52 and click OK. Now, return the restoration color information on character faces and don’t forget to set Foreground Color to Black and Brush Opacity to 100%.

Step #7

Next, select Levels from the menu Layers> Create New Fill or Adjustment Layers to get level with better contrast. Set the slider to the position of Input Levels to 28, 0.9, 255 and click OK. Furthermore, re-done restoration color information by using Brush Tool (B). If you want an easier way, you can press Ctrl + left click on the Layer Mask Thumbnail Hue / Saturation or Black or White. By continuing to work on the Layer Mask Levels, click Edit> Fill> Black.

Step #8

Press Ctrl + Click on the fourth layer, then right click and select Duplicate Layers. Return to fourth layer results in a doubling of the current situation, right-click and choose Merge Layers (Ctrl + E). After merged, rename the layer to be Flattened, and then set the other layers in Invisible Mode. Because the layer with Smart Filters cannot accept editing commands in addition to Filter menu, we need to make a conventional layer. This is the reason why this flattened layer is made. Stay save another layer as a preventive action if you want to pull through improvements in some initial steps.

Step #9

Then, activate the tool Clone Stamp Tool (S). Fix the shading area on the cheeks and other parts to get the impression of a smoother skin and without disabilities. Use a brush with the Opacity to 44%. Press Alt + Click on the area to be used as the source point and click on the skin to be repaired.

Step #10

To get the glow characteristic of the plastic mannequin, activate tool Dodge Tool (O), set the Range Highlights> Exposure to 36%. Brush enough in the area ‘T’ in the face and other body parts. And to improve the appearance of pale mannequin skin, remove some details remaining colors using the Sponge Tool (O). Desaturate Mode switch on the Flow 75%.
